Milo Birch Music

Milo performs when the opportunity arises, so you may catch him playing at local nonprofit benefits, 4-H group performances, nursing homes, the Farmer's Market, and art galleries. He has graced the stages at various music festivals such as Blissfest, Hiawatha, Kaufman Auditorium and the Earthwork Harvest Gathering. In May of 2014 he won an award for “Youth Performer” for the 18th Annual Art Awards with the City of Marquette Arts and Culture Center.

Milo's most recent appearance at the 2014 Earthwork Harvest Gathering, backed by Joshua Davis, Mike Lynch, and Dan Rickabus, included his first lyrical composition as well as a notable leap in musicianship, both of which riveted the audience.

Whether he is playing his own music or sitting in to play another artist's songs, Milo's visceral connection to the music and his keen ability to improvise is inspiring. If this boy continues on this path, we can expect to have our hearts opened and our minds blown many many many more times as the years progress.

To purchase one of Milo's self-recorded CD's - "Milo on Keys" and "Blend the Colors", or the live recording of "Milo and Friends - Live at the Earthwork Harvest Gathering" on digital or cassette tape, please visit here.

Milo Birch is a young musician and composer who, at 13 years old, has shared the stage with some of the most outstanding artists on the scene. His songs are deliberate, heart-filled compositions that seem to speak from a surprisingly old soul. He plays the piano and, some say, heartstrings.

Though Milo is primarily self-taught, many teachers have inspired him and been influential in his evolution as a musician including: Bob Buchkoe, Jocelyn Basse, and Corrine Rockow.

His summers, spent at Michigan's music festivals (Hiawatha, Blissfest, Earthwork Harvest Gathering, and in the past, Wheatland, Hoxeyville, and Dunegrass), have allowed him the opportunity to create relationships with some of Michigan's finest musicians.

Instrumental in Milo's musical tenacity, some other musical heroes who have inspired and encouraged Milo include Seth Bernard, Joshua Davis, Mike Lynch, Tyler Duncan, Dan Rickabus, Jim Supanich, David Fetzer, and Pat Carroll – many of whom have invited him to sit in on their sets, and have even backed him on his.
